Programme

Leeds fielded three trialists in their starting XI at Bootham Cresent. Pascal-Dominique Gourville at Left Back, Chris Bart-Williams at Right Half and Kevin Barralon, from Nimes in France, at Outside Left. It was York that took the lead in the thirty-seventh minute when Andy Bishop headed them into the lead from a Dunning cross, as Mark Wilberforce got his hands to it but was unable to keep it out of the net. Sean McDaid replaced Robert Constable, Jamie Winter replaced Martin Woods, Barry Corr came on for Harpal Singh, Brenton Leister came on for Chris Bart-Williams and Justin Bowler took over from Andy Keogh, while Robert Constable returned to the field as a replacement for Pascal-Dominique Gourville. With just ten minutes left on the clock Henry McStay came up for a corner taken by Kevin Barralon and scored with a powerful header from about twelve yards. It was a deserved equaliser as Andy Keogh had gone close earlier in the second half but he later missed a chance to win the game after being set up by Simon Johnson. However, York's goalscorer Andy Bishop had wasted a great chance to double his and York's score.
